Fourth Grade Curriculum Overview
Fourth Grade at Trinity Episcopal Day School embraces a traditional approach and goes beyond basic mastery of skills to explore and expand students’ learning through critical thinking and problem solving. Technology is incorporated throughout the day with keyboarding practice, research, creation of presentations and word documents, test taking, coding and digital citizenship. Each student is provided a Google Chromebook which gives the ability to access digital tools and resources in all subject areas. Cooperative group and partner work are used in all subject areas. Our English Language Arts program includes literary and informational texts in multiple genres, vocabulary study, grammar, and writing activities. Novel studies are incorporated during the year. The Math program incorporates higher order thinking skills, hand-on activities, and educational games. The United States regions are the focus in Social Studies. Students study the states and capitals, history, and natural resources of each region. They practice map and globe skills and learn about the United States government. Hands-on lab activities are incorporated into each unit of study in our Science program. Multiple field trips provide additional opportunities to enhance the learning process.
Special Events and Activities:
