Pre-School Curriculum

At Trinity, we enthusiastically agree with the extensive research that supports a project-based approach to learning as the most developmentally appropriate and beneficial method for young students. Our curriculum is Creative Curriculum, and it revolves around project-based learning. We teach our youngest learners to think critically, problem solve and collaborate, providing a solid foundation for their educational future. In PreK3, we implement Handwriting Without Tears, a program designed to ensure that students acquire essential skills such as letter formation, letter and word spacing, and the ability to differentiate between capital and lowercase letters. This program lays the groundwork for effective communication and literacy development.

In PreK4, our project-based learning is reinforced by Fundations, an integral component of our comprehensive English Language Arts curriculum. Fundations focuses on supporting students' phonemic awareness and their emerging understanding of the alphabetic principles, including letter-sound association and alphabetical order. It also provides the necessary foundation for manuscript letter formation. These early literacy skills play a vital role in developing word recognition and reading abilities, setting our students on a path to success.

Moreover, our teachers at Trinity undergo specialized training by Rice University's School Literacy and Culture Department. This training equips them with innovative strategies such as narrative writing and dramatization, which are integrated into our curriculum to strengthen early literacy, writing, and oral language skills. We are committed to creating a Christian environment where our students are cherished, respected, nurtured and feel a sense of belonging. The spirit of love is palpable throughout our PreK school days, with children joyfully singing the Children's Creed, the Lord's Prayer, and the Love Chapter in our hallways. Our dedicated teachers guide the children to love God and embrace the golden rule of treating others the way they want to be treated, fostering an atmosphere of compassion and empathy.
